21 Day Fast Day 20

Today is Week 3 Day 20 of our 21 Day Fast, January 27, 2024.

Isaiah 40:28-31 (ESV) 28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. 29 He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. 30 Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; 31 but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

As we’re just a day away from finishing our 21 day fast, This verse came to mind. The author gives a glimpse into all of our personal trials. We all faint or grow weary, but God who sees our predicament is the God of Compassion and the God of All Comfort 2 Corinthians 1:3. He says when we wait for him, he will renew our strength. It doesn’t come automatically. We have a part to play in every aspect of our lives. God waited to see what Adam was going to name each creature and whatever he called them, God said that was its name. He tells us that we are “partakers of the divine nature” (ESV). The NIV translates this as “participants in the divine nature.” God wants us involved. God is always aware of us and tells us he will never leave us or forsake us, but nothing is automatic.

I love that line, “they shall mount up with wings like eagles.” They are a truly majestic animal. It’s no wonder that Congress chose the Bald Eagle as the national symbol on June 20,1782. The eagle can reach great heights souring to altitudes of 10,000 to 15,000 feet. Then they glide on the currents to save energy. The eagle lives a long life. When it gets old it molts, losing all its feathers only to regrow a new set giving them more years. I like that! “They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” That’s a promise we need to remember, meditate on, rehearse it over and over and not quit! If we fail at some point, we need to remember these promises and get back up and start moving. God definitely has a plan for each one of us. Let’s take time in his presence and see what he tells us individually and corporately.
 God bless you!

Love in Christ,
