21 Day Fast Day 7
Today is day 7 of our 21 Day Fast, January 14, 2024. I want to continue with the creation account and glean from day seven. Genesis 2:2-3 (NIV) 2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
This was different from the previous 6 days where God spoke and was involved in the work of creating everything. Notice the one special thing God did here: He blessed the 7th day and made it holy. God was personally involved and wanted to make a way of life where work got done and was enjoyable by having a relationship with him. The Garden was a blessed place and a type of Heaven where Adam and Eve could live in a loving relationship with God, but there was a condition. They were not to eat the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. This wasn’t a test. It was a condition. Having free will is the only way we can genuinely demonstrate love.
Genesis 3:6-7 (NIV) 6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
They experienced a spiritual death that separated them from the holy relationship they could have had with God. But thankfully God had a plan to turn things around by sending his son to make the ultimate sacrifice on the cross to pay the price for our sins. For those who call upon his name will enjoy all the full benefits of being his children. Galatians 2:20 (NIV) 20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
2 Corinthians 5:17-19 (NIV) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
We have work to do! Jesus worked in the Garden and we’re to work also. We are not under the curse Adam and Eve were. Ephesians 2:10 (NIV) 10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV) 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
You are not a common garden person! If you know Jesus you are a new creation. We are not of this world any longer. We are children of God with a divine call to make a difference here! Amen
Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he will make your paths straight.
Psalm 34:6 Taste and see that the Lord is good
Ephesians 6:2 "Honor your father and mother"
Philippians 4:1 I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
