21 Day Fast Day 3

Today is day 3 of our 21 Day Fast, January 10, 2024. Hopefully you’re reading this word of encouragement in the beginning of your day. It certainly can be read anytime you like, but there’s something about “charting your course before you set sail.” The psalmist makes a powerful statement of faith and declaration of the way he is going to live. Psalm 119:105-106 (NIV) “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws.” He knew where he was going and how he was going to get there. The word of God was the foundational drive in his life. As we read and meditate on God’s word, he gives us wisdom. Life’s direction becomes clearer. Motivation gets stronger. Contentment is the result.

1 Peter 1:3-9 (NIV) 3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade--kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that your faith--of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire--may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

This was written by the one who openly denied the Lord. Jesus even told him it was going to happen but he didn’t believe that was possible. He was so self-assured, but needed to be broken in order to see things as they really are. But what a turn around!!!

Look at this amazing promise Jesus made to his followers. 7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8 (NIV)

Be encouraged! Here’s more confirmation. 2 Corinthians 1:20 (NIV) 20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God. (Can I get an AMEN!)

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding

Psalm 34:6 Taste and see that the Lord is good

Ephesians 6:2   "Honor your father and mother"

Philippians 4:1 I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
