21 Day Fast Day 13

We have so much to be thankful for, yet in the midst of so many good things there are those that are experiencing deep pain and sorrow in our own church, in our extended families and around the world! People are hurting and need hope. People need the Lord. The California WildFires have brought about so much devastation and destruction including the loss of lives, homes and no doubt, so much more. I also get a publication called The Voice of the Martyrs that tell of heartbreaking stories of persecution and the loss of lives, homes and churches. It’s happening today around the world. We can get numb and even desensitized because of the weight of it all. But God is on the throne and will help us to do whatever part he would inspire us to do. The early church went through great challenges and persecutions, but they looked to the Lord and were filled with hope and spread the Word. Read these following portions of scripture and be encouraged. We are the church of TODAY and have a part in the history of the Gospel reaching the lost.

1 Thessalonians 1:2-10 (NIV)
2 We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers. 3 We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. 4 For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, 5 because our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake. 6 You became imitators of us and of the Lord; in spite of severe suffering, you welcomed the message with the joy given by the Holy Spirit. 7 And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. 8 The Lord's message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia--your faith in God has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about it, 9 for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10 and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead--Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.

Colossians 1:3-6 (NIV)
3  We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, 4  because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints-- 5 the faith and love that spring from the hope that is stored up for you in heaven and that you have already heard about in the word of truth, the gospel 6 that has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God's grace in all its truth.

Galatians 6:7-10 (NIV)
7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

1 Corinthians 13:13 (NIV)
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Love and blessings,

Pastor Ray
