21 Day Fast Day 6

I trust that you are being encouraged. Each day that passes is a day of victory. God is working in us and through us. If you’ve been in the church for any length of time you will have heard me speak on the nature of God, that is, his being. Before there was anything, God existed. There was no TIME. There was no universe. There wasn’t even SPACE. There was just God! Then he spoke and everything came into existence. The Book of Genesis tells the story. Genesis 1:1-5 (ESV) 1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

I love that God created everything out of his own being. His first words were, “Let there be light,” and there was light. That’s all it took. He spoke it into existence. I can’t help but think that he had a lot in mind with his creation of light. In yesterday's devotional I pointed out that Jesus called us “the light of the World” and gave a commission with it. Verse 4 above tells us that “God saw that the light was good.” Do you think he might have had his church in mind? Light was going to represent his family. He also separated the light from the darkness. This can represent the struggles and challenges that we face and God’s plan to enable us to have the victory through Christ. Our part is to walk in the light and overcome the darkness through Christ. Only those who have accepted his call to be part of his family through our faith can be included in the Light.

John 3:16-17 (ESV)
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

God loves us and is watching everything we do. I believe he loves our successes and cheers us on for victory. I also believe he is saddened by our defeats and longs to see us trust in him. Let’s press on to bring him the pleasure of our being all we could be for him through the power of his grace within us.

Love and blessings,

Pastor Ray
